REPORTS TO: Head of ICT / Deputy Principal (Administration)
LOCATION: Siaya, Kenya
JOB PURPOSE
To provide technical support, manage ICT infrastructure, ensure system security, and support digital learning and administrative systems within the institution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. ICT Infrastructure Management
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and networks
- Manage servers, LAN/WAN, internet connectivity, and wireless networks
- Monitor system performance and ensure uptime and reliability
2. Systems Administration
- Administer institutional systems (MIS, ERP, LMS, Finance, HR systems)
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls
- Perform system backups, updates, and recovery procedures
3. Technical Support
- Provide first-line and second-line ICT support to staff and students
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
- Maintain an ICT helpdesk and ticketing system
4. Cybersecurity & Data Protection
- Implement ICT security policies and procedures
- Monitor systems for threats, vulnerabilities, and breaches
- Ensure data backup, disaster recovery, and compliance with data protection laws
5. Software & Web Development Support
- Assist in development and maintenance of institutional systems and websites
- Support integration of APIs and third-party systems
- Maintain databases and ensure data integrity
6. ICT Policy Implementation
- Enforce ICT usage policies and standards
- Support audits (e.g., ISO 9001, ICT Authority standards)
- Prepare ICT reports and documentation
7. Training & Capacity Building
- Train staff and students on ICT tools and systems
- Develop user manuals and guidelines
- Support e-learning platforms and digital content delivery
8. Asset & Inventory Management
- Maintain ICT asset register
- Track procurement, deployment, and disposal of ICT equipment
Required Qualifications
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Academic Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Information Technology
- Computer Science
- Information Systems or related field
Professional Certifications (Added Advantage)
- Cisco (CCNA)
- Microsoft (MCSA / Azure)
- CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+
EXPERIENCE
- At least 2–3 years in ICT support, systems administration, or network management
- Experience in educational institutions or public sector is an added advantage
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of networking, databases, and system security
- Proficiency in programming (PHP, Python, JavaScript) is an advantage
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
